Sensing — the network as a radar
A mobile network already fills a room with radio. Sensing is the idea that the same radio can be read back to say what is in the room — where an object is, how big it is, how fast it is moving — even when that object carries no phone and has never joined the network. This course is not about one document and not about one group: it follows a single area of work through nine working groups, two plenaries, eighteen work plan entries and the 3492 meeting documents the local record ties to them. Every statement in it hangs on an entry in a source register built from files on this machine, because there is no single specification to cite. It tells you what each group did, which specifications the work creates and changes, where the work has got to, and — at every turn — the document number to go and read, because this school does not carry the text of any of them. It also spends a whole chapter on what the record cannot tell you, which for a subject this young is a large part of the honest answer.
