5.37.12 Support for RAN-controlled UL bitrate recommendation
Taught in 23. Very fast, very reliable, very picky (The 5G system architecture, in depth).
To enable bitrate recommendation for the UL by NG-RAN (defined as UL Rate Control in TS 38.300 [27]), the AF may provide, within the AF session with required QoS procedure (as described in clauses 4.15.6.6 and 4.15.6.6a of TS 23.502 [3]), a RAN-controlled UL Bitrate Recommendation indication, when a media flow can adapt to bitrate recommendation received from RAN. The PCF, based on the AF input and operator policies, may include this indication within the PCC rule as defined in clause 6.1.3.27.10 of TS 23.503 [45] and the SMF forwards the indication to NG-RAN in N2 SM information when establishing and/or updating the corresponding QoS Flow.
NOTE 1: How the Application makes use of the RAN-controlled UL Bitrate Recommendation is outside the scope of this specification.
NOTE 2: RAN-controlled UL bitrate recommendation does not affect the QoS forwarding treatment of a QoS flow.
NOTE 3: RAN-controlled UL bitrate recommendation is used for QoS Flow(s) with single media flow as described in clause 6.1.3.2.4 of TS 23.503 [45].
