Taught in 4. What NR actually is, in the shape its own document gives it (TSG RAN — the group that specifies the radio, overview).
In addition to functions specified in clauses 4.1 and 16.7, the AMF hosts the following functions:
- In case of an NR Femto node connected to an NR Femto GW:
- Routing of handover messages, Downlink RAN Configuration Transfer message and DOWNLINK RIM INFORMATION TRANSFER message towards the appropriate NR Femto GW based on the received Selected TAI.
- In NG handover towards the NR Femto node, including the Global RAN Node ID of the NR Femto node in the HANDOVER REQUEST message to the NR Femto GW.
- In case of an NR Femto node directly connected to an AMF:
- At NG Setup, verifying, as defined in TS 33.545 [70], that the identity used by the NR Femto node is valid.
- At Initial UE Message and NG Handover procedures, verifying, as defined in TS 33.545 [70], that the reported CAG ID list is valid for the indicated cell of the NR Femto node.
