6.2.10.8 Message delivery to UE reader

When the AIOTF intends to deliver an AIoT message to a UE Reader, the AIOTF sends the message to the NG-RAN via AMF, which subsequently forwards it to the UE Reader. The procedure for this downlink message delivery is illustrated in Figure 6.2.10.8-1.

1-3. Steps 1 to 3 of the procedure for NGAP message delivery to NG-RAN specified in clause 6.2.4.2 are performed with the following additions:

    • In step 1, the AIOTF either includes the UE Reader(s) ID (i.e. RAN UE NGAP ID, AMF UE NGAP ID) or target service area in the Namf_AIoT_MessageDelivery Request.

4. Upon receiving the NGAP message, the NG-RAN selects the target UE Reader as specified in 5.3.3a and transfers the AIoT messages over the radio interface (RRC connection) as defined in TS 38.300 [5].
