3GPP 23.501 v20.2.0 — the document's own text
5.53.1 Overview
Taught in 27. Overload, energy, deployment and the rest (The 5G system architecture, in depth).
To support dynamic Network Identity display in the UE, the AMF provides the parameter 'Network Identity' as part of Network Identity and Time Zone (NITZ) as defined in TS 22.042 [222] to the UE, via UE Configuration Update procedure as defined in clause 4.2.4.2 of TS 23.502 [3]. The Network Identity parameter is applied by the UE as described in clause A.3 of TS 22.101 [33].
NOTE 1: A network identity stored in the USIM can supersede the network identity stored in the UE as described in clause A.3 of TS 22.101 [33].
The serving AMF may set the Network Identity in use for the UE based on operator's policies, and/or authorized Network Identity Information received from the PCF as specified in clause 6.5 of TS 23.503 [45] during AM Policy Association Establishment procedure or AM Policy Association Modification procedure. The authorized Network Identity Information received from the PCF takes precedence over the locally configured Network Identity.
NOTE 2: Authorized Network Identity Information is not supported in the roaming scenarios in this Release.
The AMF stores the Network Identity in use and the authorized Network Identity Information. When the Network Identity is changed, the AMF provides the updated Network Identity to the UE via UE Configuration Update procedure.
During inter-AMF mobility procedures, the source AMF forwards the Network Identity in use and authorized Network Identity Information to the target AMF. The target AMF may replace the received Network Identity in use with a new Network Identity based on operator's policies.
NOTE 3: To avoid the display of invalid PLMN name resulted from last received network identity, all the CN nodes in HPLMN that provide the network identity, e.g. AMF, or MME in the case of EPC, are required to enable again the configuration of the default network identity. There may be a risk that a wrong network identity is displayed after a UE is handed over to EPC.
