16.23.5.5 AS ID
An A-IoT device can be assigned an AS ID or indicated to reuse the random ID transmitted in A-IoT MSG1 of A-IoT CBRA as the AS ID. The AS ID is used by the A-IoT reader to address a specific A-IoT device for R2D reception and scheduling resource for the device to perform D2R transmission. An A-IoT MSG2 of A-IoT CBRA procedure can assign an AS ID or indicate the A-IoT device to reuse the random ID transmitted in A-IoT MSG1 as the AS ID for the device. For A-IoT CFA, an A-IoT device can be assigned an AS ID by a R2D Upper Layer Data Transfer message.
An A-IoT device is not expected to maintain both AS ID and random ID simultaneously, and it maintains at most one AS ID at a time. The A-IoT device does not expect the reader to assign a different AS ID corresponding to a random ID when A-IoT MSG2 is retransmitted.
The A-IoT device releases the stored AS ID, when any of the following conditions is met, e.g.:
- It is out of energy;
- It receives a NACK message addressed to it as specified in TS 38.391 [66];
- It receives an A-IoT Paging message for A-IoT CBRA, which includes the same transaction ID as the stored one, and the previous procedure was determined to be failed for this transaction ID as specified in TS 38.391 [66];
- It receives an A-IoT Paging message for A-IoT CBRA, which includes a different transaction ID from the stored one, as specified in TS 38.391 [66];
- It receives an A-IoT Paging message for A-IoT CBRA, when it has no stored transaction ID, as specified in TS 38.391 [66];
- It receives an A-IoT Paging message for A-IoT CFA as specified in TS 38.391 [66].
