However, for CT WG6 the existing definition in 3GPP TS 23.501 seems to be not very clear. If for example a 5G capable device is built for a very specific application and with 'only a specific URSP rule' configured for that application (for the lifetime of this device), we assume that such a device does not need SSC modes 2 and 3 to be implemented. Although the mechanism to handle 'unsupported' SSC modes is defined in 3GPP TS 24.526, clause 4.2.2 (CT WG1 Rel-16, C1-196422), there is no clear indication what SSC modes can be treated as optional for Rel 15 and Rel 16 devices. (c) If the new SMF selects the old PCF, the SMF uses _Update service operation instead of _Create, to indicate the change of the SMF to the PCF. (d) If the new SMF selects a new PCF, the SMF notifies the AF. Upon receiving the 'PCF change' notification, the AF re-creates the AF session in the new PCF by sending a new Npcf_PolicyAuthorization_Create Request. (e) The new SMF notifies the old SMF for the result of the session transfer. The new SMF indicates whether the old SM policy association is used in the new PDU Session.
