{"name":"S5-251413","title":"Maintenance of TSs in SA5","source":"Ericsson","contact":"Robert Petersen","contact-id":14104,"tdoctype":"discussion","for":"Endorsement","abstract":"3GPP way of working is that errors that are serious (FASMO) shall be corrected in all maintained versions down to the release where the error was introduced.\nRel-99 up to Rel-8 are not maintained any more.\nSA is complaining on the amount of CRs from SA5 which are on old releases.\nFor old releases there are many TSs that are not used by vendors and operators anymore (typically those that are automatically upgraded for many releases and for systems that are not evolving anymore).\nSA5 has 625 TSs and TRs of which 40 TSs and 143 TRs are no longer maintained., which means that 442 TSs and TRs are maintained.\nSo to reduce the amount of CRs on old releases and still comply to the 3GPP ways of working, there are several options:\n1.\tSA changes which releases and systems are not maintained any more.\nor\n2.\tSA5 makes own way of working for maintenance of old releases and systems.\nIf alternative 2 is agreed, then it should be discussed and agreed which releases and systems are maintained for FASMO errors.\nFor instance 2G and 3G systems may not to be maintained any more. For 4G (and 5G) systems up to Rel-15 may not to be maintained any more. \nFor maintained TSs, FASMO is to be applied strictly, just correcting FASMO errors that go down to the release which introduced the error or the lowest release that is maintained.\n4\tDetailed proposal\nOne of the following alternatives is requested to be endorsed.\nAlternative 1.\nRequest SA to restrict which releases and systems that shall not be maintained any more.\n\nAlternative 2\nSA5 to agree which releases and systems that shall not be maintained any more.\nSystem X, Y and Z are not to be maintained any more.
