This discussion paper aims to highlight several challenges with using image data for equations and symbols, like future updates and document management, and propose the transition to using the equation functionality which built in Word, in order to enhance the overall quality and usability of test specifications._x000D_\n_x000D_\n2.\tDiscussion_x000D_\nCurrently, many mathematical equations and symbols in RAN5 RF test specifications are embedded as image data. This is a simple approach but has several disadvantages: _x000D_\n1.\tDifficulty of editing: _x000D_\nModifying equations or symbols requires creating new images, which is time-consuming and prone to errors._x000D_\nIt is difficult to maintain consistency in font and style across different equations and symbols._x000D_\n2.\tLimitation of searching and indexing: _x000D_\nEquations as and symbols represented as images cannot be searched or indexed, so it makes difficult to locate specific equations or symbols within the document._x000D_\n3.\tFile Size:_x000D_\nImage files increase the overall size of the document._x000D_\n_x000D_\nOn the other hand, using the equation functionality built in Word has several advantages: _x000D_\n1.\tEase of editing: _x000D_\nEquations and symbols can be directly edited within the document, which simplifies updates and corrections._x000D_\nIt is easy to maintain consistency of formatting throughout the document._x000D_\n2.\tImproved searchability: _x000D_\nEquations and symbols are treated as text, allowing for full-text search capabilities within the document._x000D_\n3.\tReduced File Size: _x000D_\nThe overall document size is reduced by removing image data._x000D_\nObservation 1: Using the equation functionality buil in Word has several advantages than representing equations and symbols in image data._x000D_\nConsidering the benefits above, we propose the transition from image-based equations and symbols to equation functionality of Word in RAN5 RF test specifications. This change will improve efficiency of editing, updating, and usability of documents for users._x000D_\nProposal 1: Transition from image-based equations and symbols to equation functionality of Word in RAN5 RF test specifications to enhance usability and ease of editing._x000D_\n_________________________________________x000D_\n3.\tConclusion_x000D_\nRAN5 is asked to endorse the following proposal._x000D_\nProposal 1: Transition from image-based equations and symbols to equation functionality of Word in RAN5 RF test specifications to enhance usability and ease of editing.","secretary_remarks":"","agenda_item_sort_order":13,"ainumber":"4.2.4","ainame":"All other topics","tdoc_agenda_sort_order":9420,"status":"revised","reservation_date":"2025-07-02 12:29:43","uploaded":"2025-02-07 12:55:38","revisionof":"","revisedto":"R5-251235","release":"","crspec":"","crspecversion":"","workitem":[{"winame":"TEI15_Test"},{"winame":" 5GS_NR_LTE-UEConTest"}],"crnumber":"","crrevision":"","crcategory":"","tsg_crp":"","lsreplyto":"","lsto":"","Cc":"","lsoriginalls":"","lsreply":"","link":"https:\/\/www.3gpp.org\/ftp\/tsg_ran\/WG5_Test_ex-T1\/TSGR5__106_Athens\/Docs\/R5-250942.zip","group":"R5","meeting":"R5-106","year":2025,"uicc_affected":"","me_affected":"","ran_affected":"","cn_affected":"","clauses_affected":"","crsinpack":null,"crsinpacknumber":0},

Especially, editorial and RAN4 alignment CRs submitted per agenda by each company item should be combined to avoid multiple CRs in the same agenda item. Whether this guidance should be captured in a PRD, e.g., PRD18 (\u201cGeneral processes and practices\u201d), could be discussed separately. We realize that there are exceptions and sometimes separate CRs to a TR\/TS might be needed, e.g., essential corrections. _x000D_\nProposal 1: RAN5 leadership to periodically provide a recommendation to the group for each company to limit the number of contributions (discussion papers and CRs) and\/or consolidate TDocs for each agenda item to reduce the number of contributions_x000D_\nProposal 2: RAN5 leadership to provide a guidance to the group to make sure that companies combine editorial and RAN4 alignment CRs submitted per agenda item to avoid multiple CRs with similar\/same intent in the same agenda item.","secretary_remarks":"","agenda_item_sort_order":13,"ainumber":"4.2.4","ainame":"All other topics","tdoc_agenda_sort_order":10610,"status":"noted","reservation_date":"2025-07-02 15:39:25","uploaded":"2025-02-07 23:44:04","revisionof":"","revisedto":"","release":"","crspec":"","crspecversion":"","workitem":"","crnumber":"","crrevision":"","crcategory":"","tsg_crp":"","lsreplyto":"","lsto":"","Cc":"","lsoriginalls":"","lsreply":"","link":"https:\/\/www.3gpp.org\/ftp\/tsg_ran\/WG5_Test_ex-T1\/TSGR5__106_Athens\/Docs\/R5-251061.zip","group":"R5","meeting":"R5-106","year":2025,"uicc_affected":"","me_affected":"","ran_affected":"","cn_affected":"","clauses_affected":"","crsinpack":null,"crsinpacknumber":0},
